Description
The SCMT trackside subsystem provided by ECM consists of the following products: Station Encoder System (or "Station Cabinets"), Line Encoder System (or "Line Cabinets"), Signal Encoder (SCMT-ES) and the INFILL system (for the latter see relative chapter for further information).
The Station and Line Cabinets consist of the following:
» Support structure;
» An Encoder (LEU): fail safe unit (SIL4) designed to encode the status of the interlocking system and to transmit this information in the form of telegrams to the balise in compliance with a standard protocol;
» Diagnostic System (FED): unit used to monitor the operational status of the encoder and external interfaces;
» Power supply unit: redundant power supply unit for galvanic separation from the mains supply and to provide power for the encoder unit and interface circuits;
» Balise Drive Modules: modules used to drive the balise and provide galvanic separation;
» Cable interface panel: an electrical panel that allows the wiring to be connected before the unit is taken to site;
» Wiring: very simple and smart solution provided with a coding system to prevent wrong connections;
1. Cable for connection between Station/Line Cabinets and Balises;
2. Fixed or switched balises and relative support structures.
Signal encoder
The signal encoder is ECM's most recent product for the SCMT trackside equipment. It is installed on the signal poles or gantries, and receives the information and the energy directly from the lineside signals and operates in a non-intrusive manner.
Thanks to this smart system of installation and interface arrangements, equipping lines with SCMT in compliance with safety integrity level SIL 4 as per CENELEC standards, results to be very cost effective and fast.
Finally there is a diagnostics system capable of monitoring the operating status of the encoder. The status messages, suitably concentrated in the equipment room are transmitted via GSM-R thanks to a special data concentrator.
