Description
The system for Monitoring the Rail Temperature (MTR) designed by ECM is a compact system of modern design built to meet the requirements for monitoring the temperature of the railway infrastructure installations in accordance with Italian railway specifications.
The MTR system consists of three levels:
- Level 1: Rail Temperature Detection Areas (PRTR) to be installed along the track, where checks are carried out automatically, and the measurement of rail temperature is processed and sent on an analogue line to the Peripheral Control Post (CFP), thanks to an extremely robust and accurate temperature probe;
- Level 2: Peripheral Control Post(CFP), located at manned or unmanned stations at the start of a controlled section, where information from the PRTR for the line to be monitored is concentrated, and eventual alarm messages conditions are generated. PCP can be connected to one or more Maintenance Posts (PM) to be installed in the offices of the Chief Engineer or Supervisor, to enable the information to be seen by all the. This information can also be made available to Central Centres;
- Level 3: Central Control Post (PCC), where data for the whole area is concentrated at a control centre where it will be possible to detect, at any time, any signal exceeding the alarm thresholds, or reports of system failure.
The Centralised Diagnostics System for Rail Temperature Monitoring(SDC MTR) performs the following functions:

- Measurement of rail temperature and display of relevant information in real-time at a remote location;
- Remote visual and audible alarms for temperature thresholds and set-points;
- historical data analysis of alarm messages and any other operating data relevant to the devices (alarm log).
The ability to equip the system with Remote power supply also allows you to monitor the temperature at remote locations that have no external mains supply.
